While homecoming may be late this year, it’s still approaching quickly. With many other schools having homecoming in early September, it might be time to purchase your mum, garter, dress, or semi-formal clothing.

Like many other Texas schools, we participate in the trend of mums and garters. It is essential to get the supplies to make these before it is too late and supplies are sold out.
Girls wear their mums around their necks to the football game to support the team and their school. Boys do the same thing with their garters, but they usually are smaller and worn around the arm. Additionally, seniors usually wear an all-white mum or garter while freshmen through juniors have mums in the school colors.

The Mum Shop in Plano is a great place to order mums. The Mum Shop will make the mums for you if you aren’t very crafty.

However, you can make them yourself with supplies from a craft store. If you buy supplies from the craft store, be sure to go and get them before the ribbons are all gone.

Finding the perfect outfit to wear to the homecoming dance can also be very stressful. Terry Costa and WhatyamaCallit, both located in Dallas, have great options for homecoming dresses. They have many options in-store and online, so there is a dress for everyone.

Men’s Wearhouse has excellent options for dress pants and jackets to wear to the dance, as well. They also have countless ties to match the shade of your date’s outfit perfectly.

Although these are great stores, they can be a little on the expensive side. Great affordable options include Dillard’s and Macy’s. These stores have cheaper options for both men and women.
There are also lots of online shops that will ship to you, but you need to be careful as many of these websites can be scams or not as advertised. Additionally, it is essential to purchase your homecoming outfit soon, especially when purchasing in-store, as they often stop selling much formal attire after September.

Homecoming Week is set for Oct. 24-28 with the dance ending the festivities on Saturday night, Oct. 29, but that date is approaching quicker than you think, so it is imperative to stay on top of things. Waiting until the last minute can be stressful, so buy everything you need early and make your plans so that you can have a smooth running dance.
