Leading the varsity girls team, senior Abi Bass sets the pace early at the 5A District 13 Cross Country Meet held at Myers Park in McKinney on Oct. 11. Bass finished in 2nd place individually, and both the varsity girls and boys teams finished in 3rd place, advancing to the regional meet.

- SAT Practice Test: The Princeton Review is hosting a FREE virtual SAT practice test for Melissa students on Oct. 22 from 9 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. This is not an official PSAT or SAT. This practice will provide unofficial feedback as a study tool in helping prepare for the official test offered through CollegeBoard.
- Basketball Spirit Wear: If you’d like to purchase some basketball spirit wear and help the program with fundraising, the online store will be open through Oct. 28. Click here to shop.
- SENIOR ADs for the 2023 yearbook are now on sale! Parents/guardians will build and purchase the ADs through Herff Jones’ site: YearbookOrderCenter.com.
- Build-a-Cardinal Family Fun Night: Willow Wood Elem PTO is looking for high school students to help elementary students stuff and adopt cardinals (like at Build-a-Bear) on Oct. 20 at 6:30 p.m. If interested, click here to sign up. Students will receive a letter confirming their service time, which looks great on scholarship applications and resumes.

Trunk or Treat Night: Willow Wood Elem PTO is looking for high school students to decorate their trunks (prizes awarded!), help pass out candy, run simple games and just have fun with elementary trick-or-treaters!
