Cardinal Update

  • Friday Lunch Order Form: If students would like to purchase a lunch to take home on Friday when school dismisses, orders are being accepted through 3:55 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 15. The lunch will be ready for pickup between 12:10-12:15 on Friday in the Student Union. Click here for the order form.
  • TRACK STORE: If you’re looking for some Melissa Track & Field apparel, their online store is now open.
  • EARLY RELEASE: School will dismiss on Dec. 16 at 12:10 p.m. to begin the winter break, Dec. 19-30. Click here to view the modified bell schedule. Staff will return to campus on Jan. 2 for professional development, and students will return to campus on Jan. 3.
  • Congratulations to the Melissa Robotics Team! The team placed as the UIL 5A/6A State Runner Up on Dec. 3 and received accolades for making the finals in the robot game and for having the outstanding marketing booth. Job well done representing MHS!
  • Welding Program: There will be a parent meeting on Dec. 13 at 5:30 p.m. in the Student Union. This meeting is only for current 10th grade students who are interested in being part of a welding program next school year.
  • Semester exams will be given December 8 – 16 during regular class times even though the fall semester doesn’t officially end until Jan. 13, 2023. Click here for more information and to view the schedule.

  • SENIOR ADs for the 2023 yearbook are now on sale! Parents/guardians will build and purchase the ADs through Herff Jones’ site: YearbookOrderCenter.com. Space is limited, so don’t delay–buy your ad today!
  • The 52nd Annual Collin County Poetry Contest is now accepting entries. Students are invited to enter. The contest is sponsored by McKinney’s Mockingbird Chapter of the Poetry Society of Texas. Winners are chosen from each grade level and recognized at an award ceremony in the spring. All entries must be postmarked by Feb. 1. Entry rules and other details can be found on mockingbirdpoetry.org.
