Cardinal Update

  • Monday, Feb. 21 is a Staff Development Day at Melissa Schools; there is no school for students.
  • Color Guard will host an indoor showcase this Monday, Feb. 21, at 7:30 p.m. in the high school auxiliary gym. We will have performances by our middle school, JV, and varsity winter guards. We will also have a performance by our featured twirler. Please come out if you can!
  • High school will follow the Pep Rally Bell Schedule on Tuesday, Feb. 22, as there will be a pep rally in the auxiliary gym at 10:35 a.m. The theme is Twins Day on TWOsday, 2/22/22, so students and faculty members should dress to match another person.
  • Congratulations to freshman Brogan Middleton and science teacher Brittany Rosch for being named Cardinals of the Week. Click here to read more.
  • Cheerleading Tryouts: A clinic to learn the material will be held Feb. 22 & 23 from 4:30-6 p.m. at the MMS main gym. Tryouts will be held Feb. 24 at the MMS main gym. Participants may arrive at 4:30, and tryouts will begin at 5 p.m. and run until completion.
  • The next driver’s ed class will begin Feb. 28. Any student interested should stop by the main office to sign up.
  • Spring Break is March 7-11; all schools and district offices will be closed for the week.
  • Tickets are on sale now for the “Mardi Gras in Melissa” gala on Saturday, March 19, presented by the Melissa Education Foundation. This annual event raises funds for Melissa ISD student scholarships and teacher grants. To learn more and purchase tickets, click here.
  • Make-up Days: Monday, March 28 and Thursday, May 26 are Melissa ISD’s two Bad Weather Make-Up Days for the 2021-2022 school year. Students will have school both days to make up for the unexpected weather-related school closures that took place in February; this also means that the last day of school is May 26. Both of these make-up days will be Red Days for high school.
  • Prom will be held April 30 from 7-11 p.m. at the Toyota Stadium in Frisco. Prom is only open to MHS juniors and seniors and their guests. Click here to read more.
