The Netflix show “Wednesday,” which is a spin-off of “The Addams Family,” became popular when it was released over Thanksgiving break because of Wednesday’s unique and unconventional personality. The character, played by actress Jenna Ortega, doesn’t blink.

After her director suggested not blinking during the first season, Ortega agreed and never blinked from that point on for a better effect on her character. Wednesday’s black dress and braided pigtails were big contributions to her being instantly recognizable to many fans, according to an article in the International Psychology Clinic.

The first season of “Wednesday” started filming between September 2021 and March 2022. Season one finally came out Nov. 23, 2022, on Netflix. Starring Wednesday Addams as the main character played by Jenna Ortega, Wednesday discovers her psychic abilities, which leads to her preventing a killing spree that has terrorized the town surrounding her new school, Nevermore Academy. She also makes friends and enemies as she investigates a supernatural mystery involving her parents from 25 years ago.

There will most likely be a second season coming out very soon. Netflix announced the season two renewal with a video posted to Instagram on Jan. 6.

“Over the past few weeks, I’ve been hunted, haunted, and mimicked millions of times across the internet,” Jenna Ortega said in an article in Seventeen.

In the Netflix dark comedy, Ortega dances to the 1981 song “Goo Goo Much” by The Cramps, but many on TikTok are going with Lady Gaga’s “Bloody Mary” (“I’m gonna dance, dance, dance with my hands, hands, hands”). In episode four of season one, this dance becomes a trend when people make their own versions of the dance, involving tossing back their heads, not blinking their eyes and moving their arms side to side and up and down, according to CNET.
