Students should expect final exams for all classes within the coming week. ELAR, Math, CTE, and elective exams will take place January 10-11. Science, Social Studies, World Languages, and Fine Arts exams will occur on January 12-13. Students who are unable to take the exams for any class will be able to make them up on January 14. This will take place in normal class periods for red days, Mega Lunch, or by arranging a time with the teacher.

Since exams will begin in a few days, one way students can prepare is by rewriting old notes or creating a personal study guide. This can help some individuals who retain information when writing information down. Students are advised not to make study guides dull. Adding some color to study guides will help motivate students to continue studying.

Creating flashcards is another creative way to study. Flashcards are inexpensive and are an easy way to make sure important exam information is present on the card. Not to mention it’s a good way to help students focus on one topic at a time.

However, writing down information to memorize and process doesn’t work well for all individuals. For individuals who prefer to study digitally, apps such as Quizlet, Anki, Khan Academy, and YouTube educational videos can be very helpful.

Once again, students are highly advised to study over the weekend and prepare for finals. For students who are eager to calculate their grades, the first 9 weeks grade and the second 9 weeks grade will each count for 42.5% of the semester average and the semester exam will count for the remaining 15%.

Students who do not reach passing requirements for the second nine weeks who are in extracurricular activities will not be able to participate for at least three weeks and will then be told by their teachers to come in during Mega Lunch for tutorials to receive help.

Semester exams are important and should be taken seriously and with an open mind.
