NFL season kicks off under bright lights of Los Angeles
September 19, 2022
The 2022 National Football League (NFL) season kicked off in style September 8th in Los Angeles with a headliner matchup between the Buffalo Bills and the reigning Super Bowl champions, Los Angeles Rams. The game was close and tied going into halftime. After halftime, the Bills pulled away, scoring 21 points in the second half and winning the game 31-10.
Bills wide receiver Gabriel Davis caught four passes for 88 yards and one touchdown.
“We knew that everyone would be watching,” Davis said in his press conference after the impressive win.
In last season’s playoff game vs. the Kansas City Chiefs, Davis had a team record of four touchdowns. Davis picked up right where he left off, looking sharp as ever.
Former Super Bowl MVP Cooper Kupp caught 13 passes and one touchdown in the loss.
“I mean, it’s tough. Anytime you come in, your expectations are to win the game,” Kupp said. “So any time you fall short of that, it’s tough. But that’s the way things go in this league.”
Kupp led the league in total yards, receptions, and touchdowns last season.
“It’s just on us to go back, watch this film, and make the corrections,” Kupp said in his postgame press conference. “It’s a long season. We got a lot of stuff to improve on, I’m sure.”
In the 2021 NFL season, both the Rams and Bills won their respective divisions. With a fresh start, both teams look to repeat their previous year’s success. With a long season on its way, it’s anyone’s guess how each team’s year will shake out.
