Basketball season is coming up this fall and the boys and girls are getting prepared with official practices starting soon. This season is starting off with new players and a few new coaches.

The girls have four coaches, three of which are new: Kaitie Stinton (head coach and girls athletic coordinator), Gary Trombley, Savannah Metts, and JD Clemmons. The boys still have the same three coaches: Eric Benton, David Broom, and Jacob Arvin.

“They are very good at teaching and coaching and some of my favorite coaches by far,” freshman Dehren Narido said.

Games are coming up very soon with the girls first game on Oct. 29. The boys first varsity game will take place on Nov. 5 with JV and freshman starting on Nov. 15.

The teams have been practicing and conditioning every day. Girls’ practice after school officially starts Oct. 19, and the boys can start practicing after school beginning Oct. 25, as determined by University Interscholastic League (UIL) rules.

With many seniors leaving, new positions have opened up.

“I’m so excited for this coming basketball season because we have a lot of talent on JV and we work together really well,” junior Paisley Needham said. “After not playing last year, I’m ready to get back on the court and see what we can accomplish as a team.”
