The Sideman Charity Soccer Match took place on Sept. 24 in the Valley Stadium in London. The teams were Sideman FC against the YouTube All Stars to raise money for four different charities. The money was split accordingly: 40% to Campaign Against Living Miserably, 40% to Teenage Cancer Trust, 10% to Rays of Sunshine, and 10% to M7 Education.

During this match, many Youtube celebrities came to the pitch never playing soccer, and to say some were surprising is an understatement. Icons such as MrBeast, KSI, and IShowSpeed were all fan favorites and performed very well on the pitch. All of the very well known stars on the pitch contributed heavily to the income of the fundraiser. Over 1 million British pounds were raised in this 3-hour event.

“I never expected them to raise that much money in such a short span,” freshman Josue Arizpe said.

The stream reached at one point over 2 million concurrent viewers, the most viewership on YouTube this year. The game completely filled the Valley Stadium’s full capacity at over 27,000 people. The publicity for this game was quite astounding, even surpassing some Premier League professional games in England.

The game did numbers for the charities involved in the event. In total, an estimated 520,000 pounds were given to the Campaign Against Living Miserably and Teenage Cancer Trust, and around 130,000 pounds to Rays of Sunshine and M7 Education. This match was one of the biggest fundraisers this year and to be set up completely by Youtubers was quite impressive.
