Recently, on Oct. 27, Elon Musk bought Twitter for $44 billion because he is “ trying to help humanity.”
Elon Musk is a muti-billionaire male who is the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, co-founder of PayPal, and now is the owner of Twitter.
Why would he buy Twitter? Well, there is a lot of thought about why he would but he has put the reason out on the internet by doing an interview with the New York Times.
“I wanted to turn Twitter into a private company and allow people to speak more freely on the service,” Elon Musk said in an interview with the New York Times.
On Oct. 4, Elon Musk made an offer of $44 billion and then later it turns out that he tried to back out of the deal because of the number of spam accounts. After Elon tried to back out, Twitter was planning on suing him if he did end up backing out, so he completed the deal.
Some people are mad about him changing some things with the social media platform like making users pay to get verified.
“One thing that I hate that he did was make you pay $20 to get verified,“ freshman Rayne Jackson said.
