Cardinal Update
- Congratulations to Varsity Football for winning the bi-district title on Nov. 11 with a 57-20 victory over Hallsville. The area playoff game against Ennis will take place this Friday, Nov. 18, at 7:30 p.m. at Wildcat-Ram Stadium, 9449 Church Rd — Dallas, Texas 75238.
- Congratulations to Melissa Robotics! The team competeted at the regional competition on Nov. 5 in the large school 5A/6A division for the first time. Out of 25 teams, only one large school from the region can advance to UIL State, and Melissa is that team! They placed third overall out of 25 teams. They have the best booth in the nation with a near perfect score! The team will compete at the UIL State Robotics Tournament in December.

- Melissa Theatre debuted their fall musical “Matilda” on Thursday night. They will have two more performances on Nov. 17 and 19 starting at 7 p.m. each night. Tickets are $12 and can be purchased online at this link. Click here to view the Photo Gallery.
- Volunteers needed: Join Willow Wood Elementary for Bingo with Birdie Family Fun Night on Thursday, Nov. 17 from 6-9 p.m. (Doors open at 6:30, game starts at 7 p.m. We’ll finish by 8:30 p.m.) We’ll need help with set-up, crowd control, helping kids mark their cards, verifying winners, and clean-up. - Thanksgiving Break: Melissa Schools will be closed the week of Nov. 21-25.
- Heart for the Arts: Join the fine arts department Dec. 1 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. They will have crafts, face painting, carolling, Christmas jazz music, storybook presentations, visits with Santa, food trucks, and much more. The elementary schools will each be performing Christmas numbers, as well.
- Semester exams will be held from December 8 – 16 during regular class times even though the fall semester doesn’t officially end until Jan. 13, 2023. Click here for more information and to view the schedule.

- Seniors: There is a scholarship opportunity for students that participate in UIL Athletics, Music, or Academics. Please click here to see if you are eligible and apply by the Feb. 3 deadline.
- Juniors: The Coolidge Scholarship is a full-ride, four-year, merit scholarship that may be used by recipients for undergraduate study at any accredited college or university in the US.
