Marvel actor Jeremy Renner recovers after snow plow incident
January 25, 2023
Actor Jeremy Renner, best known as Marvel character Hawkeye, was crushed by a snow plow near his home in Nevada on New Year’s Day.
The Washoe County Sheriff’s office released a report that said Renner was driving his “Pistenbully snow groomer” to pull his nephew’s truck out of the snow. The tractor began to slide sideways, so Renner hopped out without setting the emergency brake.
“Once he was off the Pistenbully, he realized it was heading directly toward [his nephew],” the report states. “He feared the Pistenbully was going to hit [his nephew], so he decided to attempt to stop or divert the Pistenbully.”
Renner tried to climb back into the cab, but he was pulled under the left side track and run over.
Renner had to undergo surgery for severe chest trauma, a damaged leg and other orthopedic injuries.
“We are so thrilled with his progress,” his sister Kym Renner said.
The actor, who turned 52 on Jan. 7, gave his first update to fans on Jan. 3, posting a hospital bed selfie to Instagram and thanking well-wishers for their support.
“Thank you all for your kind words. 🙏. I’m too messed up now to type. But I send love to you all,” Renner said.
Renner recently tweeted out that he was officially home with family, though his mind was still foggy. He said he was binge watching “Mayor of Kingstown.”
“Outside my brain fog in recovery, I was very excited to watch episode 201 with my family at home,” Renner tweeted.
Renner’s fans have shown their overflowing love and support on social media, and he has expressed his love and appreciation in return.
“These 30 plus broken bones will mend, grow stronger, just like the love and bond with family and friends deepens,” Renner concluded. “Love and blessings to you all 🙏❤️🙏.”
