Senior Week

Everyone is celebrating this week. They are honoring the senior football players, that will play their last home game on Friday, with a full week dedicated in it’s entirety to them. The week is full of different events that are traditions for senior football athletes.
The week starts as any other week would. The team practices and prepares for their opponent they face that week, while the moms decorate the seniors lockers and prepare for team dinner. The locker room was covered in stars and streamers with a blue banner that read “Dream On” which is the theme for this special week. The moms put together the decorations. Stars dangled down from the top of the lockers with quotes on them and special treats in the lockers for every senior.
“I got a red Gatorade, and on the top of it there were sticks with candy, notes, and ribbon attached,” Jose Castillo said. “I got some Starbursts and Poprocks as well. It was a cool way to start my week.”
The decorations were not the only thing the moms had planned this week. On Tuesday, at lunch, the seniors were also made ice cream sundaes.
“The sundaes were a nice break from the regular routine. I’m really glad we have parents who care about us the way they do,” Nathan said.
Wednesday was the big deal for most of the seniors because it was the night of team dinner. Team dinner consists of great food, laughs, and memories. The parents put together a feast of salad, potatoes, steak, and pies.
“This steak is what I’m talkin’ about,” Payton said.
After the banquet, the students got the opportunity to poke fun at their coaches. This year the seniors voted which of their coaches received their awards. The roast session ended with the coaches and their comebacks, they were all good laughs. Senior week ends Friday night as each senior from football, band and cheer walk with their parents across the football field.
