All Region Choir
November 3, 2017
Seven Melissa Choir students traveled to Wylie High School to audition for All Region Choir, which is where students are selected to partake in a music group from different areas.
Four of those students made mixed choir: Rachel Wresh, a junior, made first chair Soprano 1, Hayley Hurst, a senior, made first chair Soprano 2, while seniors Kealey Poole made first chair Alto and senior Aaron Vaughan made second chair Tenor. For Honor Choir, freshman Madison Courtney made 5th chair Alto 2 and Senior Sarina Smith made 4th chair alto 2. Kenzie Warren, also a senior, made alternate.
“I feel really good about making All Region because I worked really hard. It’s really rewarding,” Madison Courtney said.
The choir teacher, Mrs. Watson, is thrilled about their success because of all their hard work and dedication.
“The students who made the Region Choirs have worked very hard. This process typically starts over the summer and involves outside camps through multiple universities and countless hours of practice,” Watson said. “Each one of them is deserving of this honor and I am proud to have them in the choir program at Melissa.”
She encourages more students to try out for All Region next year and hopes to see new musical faces.
“I strongly encourage anyone truly passionate about music to try the All-State process next year,” Watson said. “It will make you a better musician and person and colleges love to see it on applications.”
