Every fall, Melissa ISD hosts a canned food drive to help families in need within the community. The drive benefits the First Melissa Christmas Angel Program and the Melissa Community Outreach Food Pantry. This is a great opportunity for students to help others who may be struggling this holiday season.
The suggested non-perishable items to donate include canned vegetables, fruit, soup, and tuna, along with dry cereal, rice, and boxed mac ‘n cheese. Each 4th period teacher has been given a reusable red grocery bag to fill with the food items.
Donations began on Nov. 6 and will continue through Wednesday, Nov. 15. The Interact Club is coordinating the food drive on the high school campus and will award the 4th period classroom that collects the most food items with a Chick-fil-A catered lunch.
