Two seniors Brooklyn Fugett and Romeo Garcia were recognized by Dave Campbell’s Texas Football and Children’s Health Andrew Institute (CHAI) for their achievements after returning from injuries last school year.
The organizations partnered to award $250 scholarships to these students, and the awards were presented during the pep rally held on Nov. 2.
Fugett, who plays volleyball and soccer, received the scholarship after recovering from a significant concussion she sustained during the soccer season last year.
Garcia, an outside linebacker in football, underwent major surgery last year and received the scholarship for his diligence and strong comeback.
The Student Training Program was also acknowledged by CHAI for being named a finalist for the “Team Behind the Award.” The winner of this award will be voted on by their community at the end of the football season, and the winning program will receive a $2,500 donation.
