Buc-ee’s Brings New Jobs To Melissa

Buc-ee’s has officially broken ground in Melissa and is expected to be completed by Feb. 2019.
Buc-ee’s is a popular Texas chain pit-stop. It attracts around 10,000 guests a day, on average, according to the owners.
“I have been to a lot of the Buc-ee’s locations,” Hanna Waters, sophomore, said. “Never once have I been disappointed and my favorite treats are, of course, the famous Beaver Nuggets and the fudge.”
The new pit-stop will be located on Highway 75 and David Road. Buc-ee’s is predicting bringing in 200 new jobs, making it the second largest employer in Melissa behind MISD.
“I am excited about all the jobs they will be offering,” Karson Love, sophomore, said. “I think it’s a great place for high school students to work, and it would be fun as well.”
Buc-ee’s was originally planned to break ground last spring, but complications getting a permit approved set construction back.
“It’s started and we will not be finished until we are selling Beaver Nuggets,” Stan Beard, Real Estate Director for Buc-ee’s, said.
Crews are starting preliminary groundwork, but do not expect the bulldozers to break ground for a few more weeks.
