Marvel Studio’s “Black Panther” releases on Feb. 16, 2018. “Black Panther” is the fifth installment in Marvel’s Phase Three. The context surrounding the release of Black Panther originally gave the conclusion that the movie would simply be a set-up for Avengers: Infinity War, which releases on May 24, 2018, but trailers have shown that “Black Panther” should be a movie to celebrate on its own.

The “Black Panther” IMAX Trailer #2 opens with Everett K. Ross narrating a Wakandan airship entering the land of Wakanda. We see flashes of Wakandan life, and Romanda, T’Challa’s mother, tells her son that, “It’s your time.” This is referenced to mean that it is T’Challa’s time to become King of Wakanda, which shows a few scenes of soldiers saluting T’Challa. T’Challa, suited up in his Black Panther armor, is shown drop out of a Wakandan Airship, and Black Panther then proceeds to break into 3 military trucks.

Next, we see flashing scenes from the movie, overlapped with text saying, “In 2018,” “Hero,” “Legend,” and “King.” In the movie scenes, we can see Black Panther infiltrating trucks and fighting the military, his sister, Shuri, driving a futuristic car, and the rise of Erik Killmonger. He is seen breaking into a prison via explosives. We then hear Killmonger narrating, “I waited my entire life for this. The world’s going to start over. I’mma burn it all!” Over the narration, we see Wakandan airships in combat. Later we see T’Challa and Killmonger in a face-off, with T’Challa now narrating, “What happens now determines what happens to the rest of the world.” T’Challa and Killmonger prepare for a duel against each other in the next scene, and as T’Challa finishes narrating, Black Panther breaks up a high-speed car chase, and we then get more scenes of T’Challa and Killmonger fighting, a Wakandan Airship Crashing, and Shuri leading Wakanda to war. For the final scene of the trailer, Black Panther jumps off of a damaged car, a Japanese building, and land on an enemy car, and takes out the wheel with his claws.

Before the first “Black Panther” trailer launched, many long time comic book fans assumed that the movie would simply serve as a set up for “Avengers: Infinity War,” which is a massive movie that releases in May. The trailers and critics’ reviews have revealed that “Black Panther” is a film worthy of admiration because of it’s thrilling action and original story line. “Black Panther” has been compared to “Spiderman: Homecoming,” because both Spiderman and Black Panther were introduced in “Captain America: Civil War.” “Black Panther” doesn’t follow the Marvel Origin Story Formula that was previously established in Phase One and Two. He doesn’t need a “motivation” set-up because he already introduced his motivation in “Civil War.”

“Black Panther” stands out as a great movie in the MCU, Marvel Cinematic Universe, but is still fresh and appealing to fans, new and old. As “Black Panther” hits the theaters on Friday, this is sure to be an epic flick, as well as a fantastic set-up for Infinity Way.
