Senior Angelo Ferrari competed in the Walsh Jesuit Ironman Tournament on Dec. 8-9 in Cuyahoga Fall, Ohio, and won in his weight class for the third time.
The Walsh Jesuit Ironman is one of the most prestigious and competitive wrestling tournaments in the country. Ferrari’s bracket was one of the most elite ever assembled, consisting of the top five high school wrestlers in the country in the 165-pound weight class.
Ferrari, a University of Iowa commit and the top prospect in the US for the class of 2024, went up against two world champs from the USA Wrestling Team, and he won both matches. For the championship title, Ferrari dualed Joe Sealey of Wyoming Seminary and took the victory in the last 30 seconds of the final period. This win made Ferrari a three-time Ironman champion and earned him the tournament’s “Bill Barger Outstanding Wrestler Award.”
