Cardinal Update
- Congratulations to Varsity Boys Basketball for winning the Bi-District Title Tuesday night with a 48-46 victory over Red Oak. They will next play Longview for the area round on Feb. 23 @ 7:30 p.m. at Sulphur Springs HS. “Red Out” the stands Friday night!
- TELPAS: The Texas English Language Proficiency Assessment System (TELPAS) will be administered on Feb. 21-23. Testing students should bring snacks and water on these days. For more information about TELPAS, click here.
- DUAL CREDIT APPLICATION: The deadline to complete the Collin College Dual Credit application via ApplyTexas is Friday, February 23 at 4 p.m. Anyone who has NOT applied by the deadline will no longer be eligible to register for dual credit courses for the 2024-25 school year.
- 2024 MEF SCHOLARSHIP: The deadline for current seniors to apply for a Melissa Education Foundation (MEF) scholarship is Feb. 24. Click HERE to access the application and more information.
- JUNIORS: Students in the Class of 2025 have the opportunity to attend a life-changing camp this summer: Camp RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Award). Camp RYLA provides an opportunity for students who exhibit exceptional leadership qualities to enhance those skills working together. Applicationsare due Feb. 28 to the Interact Club sponsor Mrs. Hare in A411.
- ASVAB: MHS will host the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) on March 7. The ASVAB is not only for military use, but may be used for career exploration as well. The ASVAB is a standardized test that reveals areas of strength and ability in science, math and language, while also helping to predict future academic and occupational success. - LETTER JACKETS: Fittings for letter jackets will take place on Monday, March 25, during Mega Lunch. If students believe they qualify for a jacket, they should speak to their coach so the coach can submit their names.
- SENIORS: Cap and gown photos are now available to view and purchase through CADY Photography. The deadline to order to receive the items before graduation is April 4.
- IB PROGRAM: The IB program is launching in the fall of 2025 with this year’s freshman class. The IB Learner Profile is a set of attributes developed by the International Baccalaureate organization and is the centerpiece of the curriculum. It focuses on 10 characteristics to develop in all students–traits like becoming inquirers, knowledgeable, thinkers, communicators, principled, open-minded, caring, risk-takers, balanced, and reflective. These attributes aim to shape students into well-rounded individuals with a global perspective, fostering personal and academic growth. More information is on the way!
