Cardinal Update
- HOSA BOOK DRIVE: The Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA) club is holding a children’s book drive from March 4-8 to benefit the Children’s Medical Center of Plano. Donation boxes will be located in Mrs. Venner’s and Mrs. Fox’s classrooms, as well as in the library. All book donations must be appropriate for children and in good condition.
- LETTER JACKETS: Fittings for letter jackets will take place on Monday, March 25, during Mega Lunch. If students believe they qualify for a jacket, they should speak to their coach so the coach can submit their names.
- MHS MAGAZINE SUBMISSIONS: The brand new MHS Fine Arts Magazine is currently accepting submissions of short stories, poems, essays or any other forms of creative writing. This is a great opportunity for students to showcase their work to peers and the entire community of Melissa. All submissions are due by April 3. Click HERE to make a submission.
- SENIORS: Cap and gown photos are now available to view and purchase through CADY Photography. The deadline to order to receive the items before graduation is April 4.
- IB PROGRAM: Exciting news for Melissa High School – Introducing the International Baccalaureate Diploma
Programme (IB DP) arriving in fall 2025. Juniors in 2025 can dive into the comprehensive programme featuring six two-year IB courses, plus the “Core” of Theory of Knowledge (TOK); Creativity, Action and Service (CAS); and Extended Essay (EE). Additionally, some students may choose to take individual IB courses, rather than the full programme, both paving the way for college credits, critical thinking skills, open-mindedness and international perspectives. Send questions and inquiries to [email protected]. - IB MEETINGS: We invite all Melissa ISD parents and guardians to attend one of our upcoming informational meetings for an introduction to the prestigious IB program at Melissa Schools. The next IB Introductory Meeting open to all families K-12 is Tuesday, March 5 from 6-7:30 p.m. at Melissa Middle School. For more information, including a full list of our upcoming IB meetings, visit: www.melissaisd.org/ib.
