Special Olympics

The 10th Annual Melissa ISD Special Olympics Track Meet is scheduled for Friday, April 6 at Cardinal Stadium. Opening ceremonies begin at 9:30 a.m.
“The Special Olympics is important because it gives all the kids a chance to be winners,” NHS member, Hannah Rossell said. “I enjoy being a part of the program and getting to see their big smiles when they compete.”
Over 300 athletes representing area school districts will compete in track and field events, with award ceremonies to follow each event
“Getting to see them wish their opponents and teammates good luck and cheering on other racers is a moment you can never forget, ” Hannah Rossell said.
Sponsors for this year’s track meet include The LaCore Family, McKinney Sports Connection, and Mudpies and Lullabies. Additionally, a third award stand was built and donated by Eagle Scout Keith Stephan.

- 9:30: Opening Ceremonies
- 9:55: Mascot Race
- 10:00: Track Events & Awards Begin
- 11:30: Lunch for Athletes & Volunteers
- 12:00: Field Events & Awards Begin
