Two students, junior Logan Venner and soph. Anabelle Gonzales, advanced to the State Texas High School Visual Arts Scholastic Event (VASE) held April 26-27 in San Marcos. Their artwork, carefully chosen from over 33,000 regional high school art entries, stood out among the crowd. Only 1,418 pieces advanced to the state level.
Participation in the VASE competition requires students to not only create original artwork but also to articulate a narrative that reflects upon their creative journey and understanding of visual arts, engaging in insightful discussions with judges about their pieces. Both Venner and Gonzales received a rating of 4 for their artwork, with 5 being the highest attainable score.
