If you get bored this summer, here are five shows that you should stream:
5. X-Men, the Animated Series/X-Men 97
“X-Men,” the animated series, is one of the best adaptations of a comic’s source material to ever be put to film. With phenomenal writing, stellar animation, and great voice acting, the series put tons of effort into making a great adaptation of the X-Men comic books and its characters. The show aired from 1992 to 1997 until recently where the show returned on Disney+ simply called “X-Men 97.” The show continues the ongoing story with bigger stakes, bigger budget, and bigger developments in animation. Making it a phenomenal series, I would recommend watching this summer.
4. DAN VS (2011)
“DAN VS” is a cartoon from 2011 that originally aired on the HUB network, which is the same network that aired “The Transformers” CGI cartoon and the “Animaniacs,” DAN VS is a cartoon that follows the character Dan, who every episode has to deal with an inconvenience that he experiences–from new neighbors moving in next door to a literal dinosaur showing up on his front porch. As Dan has to deal with these inconveniences, he drags his good friend Chris along with him to help him deal with his problems. The show only has three seasons and a total of 53 episodes and is overall a very funny and cynical show that I really recommend watching.
3. The Spectacular Spider-Man
“The Spectacular Spider-Man” is, just like X-Men, an animated series adapting a Marvel comic series. The difference though is that this is adapting the Amazing Spider-Man comics written by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko. The show stars Josh Keaton as the title character, Spider-Man/Peter Parker and is the star of the show, evoking a great performance that is still loved to this day. The show has two seasons and was sadly canceled before it could’ve made its season 3, but the two seasons of the show are phenomenal and great watches with great stories, great animations, and great writing. So, overall, “The Spectacular Spider-Man” is a great show and I humbly request that you watch it.
2. Fallout
“Fallout” is an adaptation of the game series going by the same name. The show takes place more than 200 years later in 2296, where a young woman named Lucy leaves behind her home in Vault 33 to venture out into the dangerously unforgiving wasteland of a devastated Los Angeles to look for her father, who had been kidnapped by wasteland raiders. The show has been well received ever since the series dropped a few months ago and according to both general audiences and Fallout fans, it is a great show with lots of great elements and ideas.
1. Smiling Friends
“Smiling Friends” is an adult animated television series created by Zach Hadel and Michael Cusack for Cartoon Network’s night-time programming block Adult Swim, which revolves around the surreal misadventures of a small company and its four employees dedicated to spreading happiness. The show has just released its newest season and I fully recommend that you watch it this summer.
