Ranger’s sub-par start accredited to injuries

The Texas Rangers are 12-20 in the first 32 games of the season, and are dead last in the American League West. The Rangers are a disappointment because of their sluggish start.

Some of the Ranger’s poor performance can be accredited to injuries. Key players like Rougned Odor, Adrian Beltre, and Elvis Andrus, have all suffered injuries and are in the recovery process. Elvis Andrus is a key player in the Ranger’s lineup, last year he batted .306, with impeccable fielding. With 25 year old Jurickson Profar at shortstop and a lack in offensive power, it’s no wonder the Rangers are fifth in their division.

Once the the infield has returned to a healthy state, the Rangers may prove that they are a team to watch. Until then, the Houston Astros, who have the 2nd best record, (20-11), in the MLB, are the team to watch.

The Astros have been on fire recently, with both Jose Altuve and Carlos Correa batting over .300 on the season, and with Charlie Morton and Justin Verlander on the mound, both 4-0, the Astros are a force to reckoned with. The returning World Series Champs have seen nothing but 1st place since the beginning of the season.

Despite the injuries from the Rangers, and the dominant lead from the Astros, there are 162 games left in the season. The Rangers are not playing well right now, for a multitude of reasons, but with a jump start from some returning players, the Rangers may just be able to make the playoffs once again, but it’s highly unlikely that they’ll beat out the Astros in the long run.
