- HOMECOMING COURT: Congratulations to the following seniors who were recently nominated to the 2024 Homecoming Court. Because of a tie, there are six females and six males this year. The ladies are Valeria Velazquez, Rennice Kerebi, Sanaa Ferguson, Luci Davis, Melody Gallo, and Emma Cannaday. The gentlemen are Kaden Isowe, Grayson Dalby, Jake Potucek, Jacob Wasserman, Logan Venner, and Jacob Young.
- HOMECOMING WEEK: All Melissa Cardinals, including students, staff, alumni, and family, are invited to join us in celebrating Homecoming Week from October 15-19, 2024! Community events will include a parade, an outdoor pep rally, and the varsity football game. Tickets to the dance, which will be Oct. 19, are now on sale. - UTD FIELD TRIP: Juniors & Seniors ONLY: The MHS Counseling Team is excited to announce an opportunity to tour the University of Texas at Dallas on Monday, Nov. 11. This field trip is an opportunity for students interested in attending UTD to experience a free, guided campus tour. There is limited availability, 40 spots, so it is first come, first serve. Students should look for an email from Ms. Fournier that was sent on Friday, Oct. 11. Interested students should complete the Google form ASAP to register to attend the trip.
- PICTURE RETAKE DAY: 9th-11th grade students and parents can now view and purchase photos from the Sept. 17th Picture Day. Login at cady.com/orderphotos
to view and order your 2024-2025 school pictures today! Any student that was absent, not enrolled or wanting a retake needs to register through Securly Flex for a Picture Retake session during A Lunch or B Lunch on Oct. 23. The photographers will be set up in the lobby of the MAC. - MELISSA MADNESS: The Melissa Cardinal boys and girls basketball teams will kick off the 2024-25 season on Oct. 23 with Melissa Madness! Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. in the main gym. Young Cardinals will have a chance to meet-and-greet players. There will also be a live DJ, games and prizes, a performance from the cheerleaders, and a scrimmage from both basketball teams. Admission is FREE. We invite the community to come out and enjoy this fun, family event.
- TRUNK OR TREAT: FCA will host its annual Trunk or Treat event in the band parking lot on Oct. 30 from 6-8 p.m. Click HERE for the sign up sheet if your club or organization would like to sponsor a booth.
- MELISSA THEATRE: Tickets for “9 to 5: The Musical” are now on sale for performances that will run Nov. 12-16. Visit www.melissaisd.org/theatre to purchase tickets.
- LOST & FOUND: The Lost and Found is now in two locations. Larger items such as water bottles, bags and clothing are on the white shelf at the west end of the 1st floor A tower hallway. Smaller valuables such as technology, jewelry and keys will be in the main office with Mrs. Elliott.
- BUS RIDERS: All students who ride a bus to/from school must have a bus pass.
- MEF ‘CRAZY FOR CARDS’ PARTY ON THE PATIO: The Melissa Education Foundation (MEF) has launched their annual “Crazy for Cards” fundraising campaign in support of Melissa ISD student scholarships and teacher grants. Members of the community who donate $35 between now and Oct. 26 will receive a “Crazy for Cards” yard sign. Donors who give $200 or more can receive a sign plus meal tickets to the Party on the Patio on Saturday, Oct. 26 at The DougOut Sports Grill.
