Cardinal Update
- ACADEMIC EXPO: Students entering grades 9-12 at Melissa High School in the fall, as well as their parents/guardians, are invited to attend the Academic Expo on Jan. 15 from 6-7:30 p.m. in the gymnasiums to gather information about classes and programs offered for the 2025-2026 school year. Prior to the expo, a parent meeting for incoming freshmen (current 8th grade students) will be held from 5:30-6 p.m. in the Melissa Arts Center. - SENIOR PORTRAITS: The FINAL deadline for any senior to be photographed is Jan. 18. Seniors can still make an appointment with CADY and drive to the Plano studio before the deadline, OR take advantage of the LAST CALL session on campus on Jan. 15. Visit cady.com to make an appointment in studio or on campus. Don’t get left out of the yearbook! There is no charge for the YEARBOOK ONLY portraits, and CADY provides all clothing items. - UPDATE TO PARENT NOTE POLICY FOR ABSENCES: After thoughtful consideration and discussion, Melissa ISD has updated its policy regarding parent notes for student absences. Effective immediately, families may now submit up to five (5) parent notes per school year to excuse absences, an increase from the previous limit of three (3) per school year. - TIP411: Melissa ISD is excited to announce the launch of Tip411, a new tool designed to enhance safety and communication in our district. Tip411 allows students, parents, and community members to anonymously report safety concerns. - REQUIRED NOTICE: SAFE FIREARMS NOTICE: In accordance with Texas law, school districts are required to provide parents and guardians with information on safe firearm storage. This is part of an effort to reduce gun-related incidents, particularly suicides and unintentional shootings. Click HERE to read more.
- SIT WITH US: Sit With Us meetings provide parents/guardians with an opportunity to come together and discuss ideas, concerns, and potential solutions regarding matters at Melissa Schools. The philosophy of Sit With Us is that Melissa parents are Cardinal Champions who see the best for not only their students but for all students. If it matters to one Cardinal, it matters to all Cardinals.
