  • CONGRATULATIONS to Cardinal Wrestling! The varsity girls won the district championship on Jan. 29 while the varsity boys were named district runner-up. Click HERE to read more!
  • CONGRATULATIONS to Cardinal Swim for winning 4th place at the 5A District 13 meet with only three swimmers! All three athletes advanced to regionals. Click HERE to read more.
  • CANDY GRAMS: Student Council is selling candy grams all week, Feb. 3-7, in the Student Union during A and B lunch! Choose from $1, $3, or $5 options and spread some sweetness. Candy grams will be distributed during 2nd period on Valentine’s Day! All proceeds go to the California Community Foundation to help with wildfire recovery—rebuilding homes, restoring lives, and supporting those in need. Let’s come together and make a difference! ❤️
  • ROBOTICS: Any student interested in joining Melissa Robotics, there will be an interest meeting on Feb. 5 during Mega Lunch session A in room F-121. Click HERE for more info.
  • NEW TO DUAL CREDIT: Reminder, the mandatory deadline set by MHS to submit the Collin College application for dual credit is Feb. 7 @ 11:59 p.m. Any student who fails to meet the application deadline may not be allowed to continue with the registration process. For assistance with the application, students should schedule a meeting with  Collin College Counselor Ms. Pavlik. Her office is located in F118, and she is available on Mondays, Tuesdays and every other Friday.
  • PALS INTERVIEWS: Current sophomores or juniors interested in the PALS program next school year, the second and final round of interviews will take place Feb. 18 during MegaLunch in room E202. Sign up for an interview as soon as possible. Spots are filling up fast!
  • ASVAB CEP: Sophomores, juniors and seniors have the opportunity to take the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) Career Exploration Program (CEP) assessment for FREE on March 5. Interested students should use their school email address to complete this registration form by 4 p.m. on Feb. 19.
  • STAAR PREP: The Student Council Academic Excellence team will be offering various presentations to help students prepare for the upcoming STAAR exams. This week check out the Biology STAAR Prep-entation.
  • BOOK DRIVE: The MHS Book Club is hosting a book drive! Please help us donate a library of books–new or gently used–to Children’s Health. Donation boxes are found in all English teachers’ classrooms.
  • DRIVER’S ED: The next driver’s ed class will begin Feb. 26. Sign ups are available in the main office.
  • CARDINAL CHRONICLES: Any student interested in submitting work to the Cardinal Chronicles, please fill out the Magazine Submission Form by March 7. This is a magazine of student work that includes writing pieces (poetry, short stories, essays, etc.), artwork, and fashion designs.
  • MEF SCHOLARSHIPS: The Melissa Education Foundation (MEF) Scholarship Application has officially opened for seniors. The deadline to apply is March 8.
  • BUS RIDERS: All students who ride a bus to/from school must have a bus pass.

Reminder: There will be no school for students on Monday, February 17, 2025, as it is a Teacher Work Day. While the academic calendar designates February 17 as a Bad Weather Make-Up Day, Melissa ISD students will not need to make up the missed days from January due to inclement weather. We look forward to welcoming our Cardinals back to school on Tuesday, February 18!
