Health Services Consent Form
Starting September 1, 2025, in compliance with the new state law (SB12), Texas public school districts are now required to receive parental consent before providing even simple or routine physical and health services to students. For example, before a nurse or counselor can do something as simple as putting a bandage on a skinned knee or helping a child calm their breathing when emotionally upset, the district must have a Routine Health Services Consent Form on file. This does not change Melissa ISD’s commitment to our students, but it does require parents to provide written consent in order for their students to receive school-related physical and mental health services.
Please read and complete the Consent Form before September 1, 2025. For more information, visit the Melissa ISD Routine Health Services Consent website.
Parental Consent for Library Checkout
For grades 6-12 only, please complete the consent form linked below according to your child’s school to indicate whether you permit your student to check out books from their school library that are outside of the standard juvenile collection. When checking out any library book, your student’s library account will indicate to the librarian what permissions you have provided.
Students in Pre-K and grades K-5 are permitted to check out books from the standard juvenile collection in their school library. Pre-K and elementary libraries only contain juvenile books that do not contain mature subject matter; therefore, no consent forms are required.
Looking Ahead
Labor Day
Reminder: Melissa Schools will be closed for Labor Day on Monday, Sept. 1, 2025. Enjoy the extended weekend with your family. We look forward to seeing our Cardinals back at school on Tuesday, September 2!

Our early bird special ends on Friday, Sept. 12 at 11:59 p.m. Books are the LOWEST price of the year, $65, until then. Students can also get four FREE icons on their cover with the purchase of personalization. Purchase at jostensyearbooks.com
Homecoming
All Melissa Cardinals, including current students, employees, alumni, and family, are invited to join Melissa High School and Melissa ISD in celebrating Homecoming Week from Sept 15-20, 2025. Community events will include the Homecoming parade, an outdoor pep rally, and the Melissa High School Homecoming football game.
The Homecoming parade, scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 17, will feature appearances by the Melissa High School 2025 Homecoming Court, Homecoming Prince, and Homecoming Princess. This year’s theme is “Beat the Redhawks,” and MISD Superintendent Keith Murphy will lead the parade as the Grand Marshal.
New this year! Float participants will be allowed to walk alongside their float and hand out candy or other Cardinal spirit items. The parade will showcase our very own Melissa High School and East Cardinal Middle School academic, athletic, and fine arts programs. Because space is limited, we ask that each local youth organization register only one float to help us include as many groups as possible. Local businesses interested in participating are encouraged to partner with MHS and ECMS programs or local youth organizations to be featured on a float. Float registration opens to the community on August 29 at 8:00 a.m. For more information visit www.melissaisd.org/homecoming.
On Friday, Sept. 19, the Melissa Cardinals will take on the Frisco Liberty Redhawks at the Melissa High School Homecoming football game, starting at 7:30 p.m. at Coach Kenny Deel Stadium. Ticket sales open online at 8:00 a.m. on Friday, Sept 12. Ticket pricing is $6 for adults and $4 for students; all tickets increase to $10 beginning at 3:00 p.m. on the day of the game. The district will air a live stream for those who can’t make it to the game.
Campuses will announce the Homecoming Week themed dress-up days for their students to participate in. All students are encouraged to participate in Cardinal Spirit Day on Friday, Sept. 19, and Homecoming mums may be worn to school on that day.
A complete overview of this year’s Homecoming Week festivities can be accessed online at www.melissaisd.org/homecoming.
