Fair Day | Oct. 13 | District Closed, No School
Melissa Schools will be closed districtwide for Fair Day on Monday, Oct. 13, 2025. We look forward to seeing our Cardinals back at school on Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2025. Also, the State Fair of Texas announced on Oct. 9, 2025 that PreK-8th grade free student admission tickets for the 2025 season will now be valid any day of the Fair, including the final two weekends, through Sunday, Oct. 19. National Bullying Prevention Month
National Bullying Prevention Month highlights the importance of raising awareness and taking meaningful action to combat bullying. At Melissa ISD, we are dedicated to maintaining a safe, supportive environment for all students, staff, and families. We teach our students, “If you see something, say something,” because everyone plays a role in keeping our schools secure. For more resources about how you can help your child, view the links below from Children’s Health:

Fentanyl Poisoning Awareness Month
October is Fentanyl Poisoning Awareness Month, as established by Texas Government Code, §662.116, to raise awareness about the dangers of fentanyl and the risk of accidental poisoning. In support of this initiative, we are focusing on educating our students and families about the threat posed by fentanyl-laced drugs, which are often undetectable without testing. Through the “One Pill Kills” campaign and other prevention efforts, we aim to empower our community with the knowledge to recognize, prevent, and reverse fentanyl poisonings.
Learn More About Your School and District Accountability Ratings
The 2024-2025 school ratings for Melissa ISD and all our campuses are now available at TXschools.gov. This website provides easy access to information to help you understand how your child’s school is performing. You can also find helpful resources explaining what the school ratings mean on the Texas Education Agency (TEA) website.
Please note that Melissa Middle School and Sixth Grade campuses are combined and are not listed on the TXSchools site. Ratings and information for the combined campuses can be found on the TEA website. Additionally, Highland Elementary will not be listed, as it was not open during the 2024–2025 school year.
National Coaches Appreciation Week
Our coaches go above and beyond every day—leading practices, mentoring student-athletes, and building teamwork and character that last long after the final whistle. We’re grateful for their dedication, long hours and the positive impact they make on our campus community. If you see a coach, be sure to thank them for all they do!
Fine Arts Students of the Week
Congratulations to our Fine Arts Students of the Week, Ira Pawar representing the Mighty Cardinal Band and Anashe Changa, Captain of the Color Guard.

Melissa High School Hosts Community Trunk or Treat
You’re invited! Join us for a spook-tacular evening at the annual Melissa High School Community Trunk or Treat on Saturday, October 25, 2025, in the MHS parking lot. The fun kicks off at 3 p.m. and wraps up at 5 p.m. MHS athletic teams, clubs, and organizations will participate by decorating their trunks, handing out candy, and hosting mini-games for the kids. This event not only brings our community together but also gives our students a chance to give back to the community that supports them. In case of bad weather, the event will be relocated to the Melissa High School gym.
