The Volleyball team headed into playoffs after a 33-11 season at The Colony on Oct. 29 and won, then the  Lady Cards Volleyball Team advanced to the Area Round of playoffs  Thursday, Nov. 1 by defeating North Dallas.

“Next up is Fort Worth Western Hills. The game could not be any closer, ” Head Volleyball Coach, Frank DePaolo, said in an email to staff encouraging all to support the Lady Cards in their road to state #RoadtoState.  The game will be at 6 p.m. at Melissa Middle School

The varsity team finished the season sitting in first place in the division, and with a 9-2 record in district.

“I could not be happier with the outcome of our season,” DePaolo, said. “We are co-champions of District 11-4A and have won the #1 seed in the playoffs with a second victory over Sanger in a span of 7 days. With Sanger being the other co-champion, having beat them twice I would say we definitely deserve the #1 seed.”

The team hopes to perform well in the playoffs in order to redeem themselves from last year’s heartbreaking loss against Decatur in four sets.

“We have a had a goal of reaching and winning the state tournament since last November 5th.” DePaolo said. “The day after we lost in the 2017 playoffs. The core group of players that returned from that 2017 team have been on a mission to do everything they can to prepare for this season. By winning the #1 seed in District 11-4A, that core group and a few new players have put themselves in the greatest possible position to make the goal of winning state happen.”

The JV team also make a lot of steps towards improving this season. After finishing the season on a tough loss against Sanger.

“The season went very well,” Sophomore, Clency Richardson, said. “ And I felt like the communication on the team really improved.”
