Melissa Theater’s ‘Urinetown’ musical review
December 3, 2019
The musical play Urinetown recently performed six shows before the Thanksgiving break: Nov. 16, at 7:00 pm; Nov. 17, at 2:00 pm and 7:00 pm; Nov. 21, at 7:00 pm; and Nov. 23, at 2:00 pm and 7:00 pm.
It took the entire cast to practice and prepare for two to three months. We interviewed a sophomore audience member Kaycee Fender to answer some of our questions about the musical:
What did you think of the play?
“I thought the musical was well acted and amazingly put together. If was full of high energy, and it was well worth spending my $15.”
Is there anything that you wish they had included in the play?
“I can’t think of anything they need to make it stand out. They did an amazing job putting it together, and I don’t really have any suggestions.”
What did you think of the costumes and makeup?
“The costumes and makeup were well chosen; it added several elements to the play. The characters did an amazing job with the makeup to make it appear more lifelike.”
If there was only one word to describe the play, what would it be?
“One word I would use to describe the musical would be ‘lively,’ or ‘high-energetic’ if I were to use two words for the play.”
Were you surprised when you saw the musical for the first time?
“When I saw the play, I was surprised when I saw the ending of it because it was not what I expected. I also don’t mean to spoil it, but I was also surprised by how amazing the set was; I had no idea the set was going to be so detailed and complex.”
