NHS inducts over 52 new members

Fifty-two students were inducted into the National Honor Society (NHS) on Thurs., Jan. 30. NHS is a national organization dedicated to recognizing outstanding high school students where selection is based upon these four principles: scholarship, leadership, service, and character. During the ceremony, the new inductees pledged to uphold these standards at MHS.

“NHS wants to create this generation’s next leaders,” secretary Connor Sale said. “So, it is very important that they uphold these principles.”

Soon, next Thurs., Feb. 20, the NHS will hold its first meeting this year with the new inductees. The group will discuss their plans for this year’s chapter project, “Paws for a Cause,” and will present service opportunity ideas around the school and community.

“I’m very excited about this year’s inductees. They seem to have very bright minds that will make a difference in the future of the NHS,” Sale said.

The 2019-2020 NHS officers are President Emma Piyakhun, Vice-President Will Hauptrief, Secretary Connor Sale, Historian Brianne Finnell, Treasurer Payton Free, and Parliamentarian Ella Branson. Dorothy DePaolo is the advisor of the program.
