Even though MHS does not have a swimming pool on campus, that doesn’t stop one Cardinal from diving in to represent his school.

On Jan. 21, at the UIL 5A District 12 swim meet, junior Eli Tenney competed in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:02.6 and got fifth place qualifying for regionals. He also completed in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 25.00, but he did not get into the top six to advance.

Eli went on to compete at the UIL 5A Region III swim meet on Jan. 31-Feb. 1. Although he did not place, he did set a new personal record of 1:00.91 in the 100-yard butterfly. He was very pleased with his results and his PR.

Eli has been swimming for about nine years now. His mom is the one that inspired him to pursue swimming.
