On Friday April 10, students and parents in the MISD community created a public Facebook group called “Adopt a Senior Melissa, TX,” to honor the students graduating in the Class of 2020. The page currently consists of dozens of posts made by the students’ parents and features senior pictures, captions, quotes, and the status of “Adopted.”

“I think the page is an awesome idea,” senior Emma Piyakhun said. “It’s a great way for the community to help support the seniors, and it could continue to be a good way to connect to graduating classes in years to come.”

Due to the unfortunate circumstances revolving around the Covid-19 outbreak, MISD is currently unsure if students will return to school before summer break, meaning that seniors may have already had their last day of normal high school.

“It’s weird that I’ve missed some things that I’ve been looking forward to, but along with the rest of the class, I’m still holding out hope,” Emma said.
