Cardinals of the Week: Feb. 1 – 5

Brianne Finnell, Editor-in-Chief

Melissa High School has started a new feature to honor students and faculty members that display our core values on a consistent basis. Each week one student and one staff member will be spotlighted and awarded a certificate and some treats. The staff member will also be presented with a “traveling trophy.”

Senior Jaydyn Bullard, pictured with Asst. Principal Stacy Needham and Academic Dean of Students Todd Pennington, is recognized as Cardinal of the Week.

This week’s student Cardinal of the Week is senior Jaydyn Bullard. She was nominated by Mr. John Peale who had this to say about her:

“She does everything the right way. Comes to class prepared and works hard while in class. Not only does she take care of academics, but those traits also translate to the varsity basketball court. She is an outstanding person who works hard in athletics and in the classroom. She is a fantastic young lady!”

This week’s faculty Cardinal of the Week is Coach Joey Majors. Coach Majors goes above and beyond in both the classroom and on the field. He is always there to lend a helping hand selflessly by fixing players’ broken football helmets, driving the students on the bus to work out at the stadium, and covering different supervision for others that are absent. He says yes every time without hesitation. He is the definition of a team player and what being a Cardinal is all about.
