Two seniors earn prestigious art awards

Melissa High School seniors Clayton Vaughan and Jacob Lebo were both granted prestigious awards at the Scholastic Art and Writing awards, a national competition centered around recognizing students with exemplary artistic skills. Vaughan and Lebo, who competed against fellow students from Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, and Arizona, were recognized for their unique skills in originality, technicality, and the emergence of a personal voice. Vaughan, who won a Gold Key, Silver Key, Honorable Mention, and Silver Key Portfolio will be advancing to the national level of competition. Additionally, Lebo was awarded an honorable mention award.
