Students can’t believe school will be ending in less than three months. Seniors can’t wait to begin their new life in the real world while freshmen can’t wait to continue their high school experience. Students have been preparing and will soon take their final tests for the nine weeks. Freshmen will be taking three STAAR tests (English I, Algebra I, and Biology) while sophomores and juniors will be taking one each (English II and US History). This school year will end on May 27.

When one looks at the calendar, it is not hard to tell that this is fast approaching. Many students have already had or will be having set meetings with their counselors to plan for their future. Many students have started preparing themselves by making sure their grades are all passing and getting the help they need to make sure their grades stay up. The summer is not far away and students are getting ready for summer jobs and preparations for next year. Students may be buying their cars, getting their license, getting ready for graduation, and waiting to change to a new age. Melissa ISD is preparing for new incoming students and can’t wait to see what they are like. Although STAAR is just around the corner, students are confident in their teachers to educate them and give them the knowledge they need in order to be successful.

“I feel prepared for STAAR because Mrs. Chapman has taken a lot of effort to make sure we understand the concept,” soph. Cameron Ferguson said. “I am excited about the summer because it’s going to be warm and there is no school. I am also excited for next school year because it’s my junior year and I am almost out of high school.”
