Powder Loses it Power

Who wouldn’t want to throw baby powder all over each other at a football game?
Well one of the many fun ways to show school spirit is to throw baby powder at different points in the game such as touchdowns, after a cheer, interception, etc. As of right now, baby powder is banned from games at Melissa High School, and some students are not too happy about it. Although many wish baby powder would be allowed, there are some that think it is a smart idea to keep the baby powder out of the student section.
Coach Box pointed out that ¨It is a hassle to clean up and not everyone in the student section wants baby powder on their clothing after it is thrown, and we have to respect those ones.” When the baby powder is thrown it does go everywhere and ends up getting on the clothes of all those around. Junior Natalie Conlin shared her open disagreement with the current rule, “It is fun to throw it and it is a way for all of us in the student section to get excited.”
Although both sides of the argument have valid reasoning, the rule will stand, meaning baby powder is not allowed in the student section.

Also….Let’s not forget that right next to the student section, there’s the band section. We have equipment to take care of. It would be courteous to not ruin our things with baby powder. In addition to this, I know people who are highly allergic to baby powder. Throwing it around and having the wind blow back on them and into heir nostrils can prove quite dangerous to their health. I think it’s fair if we want to take care of everyone who’s a part of this school.
