A Wrap Up for District Cardinal Football
November 4, 2016
The Melissa Cardinal varsity football team’s last home game is this Friday, Nov. 4, against Community High School and is said to be a tough match. This game will be an emotional ride for the seniors while they play their last game on home turf.
As the season has been fantastic with the roaring from the crowd, hard work paid off on the field, cheerleaders stunting their way to the top, and the student section louder than ever.
Coming into the Community game Melissa´s record will be 7-3 and hopefully after the game 8-3.
Coach Rob said the game against Community “will go well if we play to our ability.” During school Friday, Nov. 4, there will be a pep rally to get the football team and fans hyped for senior night and to carry the momentum of the win over to playoffs.
Cardinal football looks bright for playoffs when we can show that Melissa is tiny but mighty! Following the football game there will be a fifth quarter community get together with food, drinks, games, and the Big Joe Walker band live on the field hosted by Melissa churches.
The Melissa community is invited for fellowship and enjoy the night with friends and honor the senior’s last home game.
With blood and sweat poured into this program, regular season will sadly end but the seniors will leave a lasting legacy.

The Melissa Cardinal football team had a much improved season compared to last seasons effort. The bi- district championship is a clear indication of the drastic change in success on the gridiron. With the seniors guiding the team to an eight win season compared to the abysmal one just twelve months earlier. The game against Community High School arguably prepared and initiated a greater level of confidence among the team that enabled the playoff victory. All in all the city and ultimately the student body’s support was a big part of the teams success.
