Wish List: Restaurants

Kate Abbe and Katy Belanger

With Melissa growing rapidly, students have been patiently waiting for more places to go to eat. Conversations of places people wish were in Melissa, have been present throughout the hallways and in the classrooms. We decided to ask Melissa High School students what eating places they would most like to be built.

Sophomore Sam Whitten said, “I want a sit-down restaurant that would be really nice. I don’t want something super fancy, but I also don’t want something that is complete trash. Maybe something like Panera that would be chill.”

Junior Kealey Poole also wanted Panera. She said, “Panera has a good variety of different foods and it’s homey, like Melissa.”

Sophomore Carsyn Kimberling said, “I would like Chick-Fil-A because their sweet tea is delicious and they are a Christian company.”

Substitute teacher Mrs. Jeffery said, “I would like an Italian restaurant built in Melissa because I like Italian food!”

Junior Aaron Vaughan said, “I would love a Whataburger, because it’s a Texas thing and all we have is Mexican food places and pizza. It would be a nice change.”

With all the variety of wishes, it is clear that students want other options in Melissa to eat. Currently we have two Mexican-food restaurants, two going on three pizza places, and a Subway and Sonic. The options are very limited and that’s why students are requesting for more diversity.
