Cardinal Update
- Congratulations to varsity girls soccer for winning the bi-district title last Friday. They will play North Dallas for the area round on Tuesday, March 29, at 6:30 p.m. at Franklin Field, 7017 Lakehurst Ave., Dallas, TX 75230. Melissa will be the visiting team, and tickets can be purchased at gofan.co. Dallas ISD does have a clear bag policy.
- Congratulations to the Academic UIL Team for winning the district championship on Saturday, March 26. Many students will advance to regionals next on April 23. Click here to view the results.
- Congratulations to junior Brandon Ward for advancing to the state powerlifting meet in Abilene on Saturday, March 26. Ward was the Region 6 – Division 2 champion for the Texas High School Powerlifting Association (THSPA) in the SHW class. He lifted a total of 1,650 pounds at the regional meet held March 8, and he finished in 4th place at the state meet.
- Congratulations to Melissa Theatre for winning the Bi-District One Act Play Contest with their rendition of “The Lost Boy.” They will perform for Area on Saturday, April 2, at Ranchview High School.
- Congratulations to Varsity Winter Guard for finishing in the top three at the regional Winter Guard International (WGI) competition on March 20.
- Congratulations to sophomore Angel Mundy and librarian Ms. Shana Nowlin for being named Cardinals of the Week. Click here to read more.
- Melissa ISD is celebrating Kindness Week from March 28 – April 1, 2022! Kindness Week encourages acts of kindness and expressions of gratitude in our schools and community. To learn more about Kindness Week and find out how your family can participate, visit www.melissaisd.org/bekind.
- Make-up Days: Monday, March 28, and Thursday, May 26 are Melissa ISD’s two Bad Weather Make-Up Days for the 2021-2022 school year. Students will have school both days to make up for the unexpected weather-related school closures that took place in February; this also means that the last day of school is May 26. Both of these make-up days will be Red Days for high school.
- Prom will be held April 30 from 7-11 p.m. at the Toyota Stadium in Frisco. Prom is only open to MHS juniors and seniors and their guests. Ticket sales began March 21; the price is $65 through April 1. Click here to read more.
