Senior Ashton Mitchell-Johnson’s high school career shows his hard work and dedication to football. Ashton has had lots of adversity and struggles growing up in a household where he lives with his loving adopted family.

Since the seventh grade, Ashton has played football with his best friend, Kale Brakebill. Together they ran the offense and defense. Ashton would run the offense, and Kale would run the defense. Ashton moved up through the ranks, showing he was determined to become something greater for his team’s benefit.

Ashton was placed on varsity’s first string, and soon enough came the glory for his competitive greatness on and off the field. He went on to become Offensive Player of the Year, with him gaining 1,700+ rushing yards during his 2021 season while racking up 17 touchdowns.

Ashton received an offer from Texas Wesleyan University and signed with his friends and family in attendance in the Championship Center VIP room.

On asking Ashton what he would miss the most after graduating high school, he said, “I’m gonna miss playing in the games where you are so locked into what’s happening you can’t think or feel anything except for the next play.”

Ashton received nothing but love and praise during his homecoming game against Ranchview, where beloved friends awarded him Homecoming King.

“I was surprised but humbled,” Ashton said.

His family has been his biggest supporters these past couple of years by going to nearly every one of his events and being his main motivation for his success.
