Cardinal Update

  • Congratulations to Melissa Robotics for winning the 5A/6A Large School Regional Contest on Saturday, Nov. 5. They will now advance to the state contest held in December.
  • Congratulations to Varsity Football for winning the district championship with an exciting 36-35 victory over Lovejoy on Thursday, Nov. 3. Their bi-district playoff game against Hallsville will be held Friday, Nov. 11, at Cardinal Stadium at 7:30 p.m. Join us at 7 p.m. for a celebration as we close the chapter on Cardinal Stadium.   • Cardinals Fighting Hunger: Students are invited to “fill the red bag” for the Fall 2022 Food Drive from Nov. 3-10 at Melissa Schools, benefiting the First Melissa Christmas Angel Program and the Melissa Community Outreach Food Pantry. Each 3rd period classroom will have a red reusable grocery bag, where students can donate non-perishable food items to support local families in need. The winning class will receive a prize.   • ASVAB: The ASVAB Test will be administered on campus on Thursday, Nov. 17. While this is primarily a test used for military enlistment purposes, it is also a great career exploration tool. The deadline to sign up for the ASVAB is Friday, Nov. 11. Click here for the Google Form.
  • Melissa Theatre will have four performances of their fall musical “Matilda.” The show dates are Nov. 10, 12, 17 and 19, and all shows will begin at 7 p.m. Tickets are $12 and can be purchased online at this link.
  • Volunteers needed: Join Willow Wood Elementary for Bingo with Birdie Family Fun Night on Thursday, Nov. 17 from 6-9 p.m. (Doors open at 6:30, game starts at 7 p.m. We’ll finish by 8:30 p.m.) We’ll need help with set-up, crowd control, helping kids mark their cards, verifying winners, and clean-up.
