Teacher Spotlight: Mrs. Robason

English teacher Melissa Robason is new to MHS this school year. Teaching, however, was not always her first career choice.

“Originally, I didn’t plan on being a teacher,” Robason said. “In college, I double-majored in both Music and English. My plan was to be an orchestra librarian, which is the person who prepares all of the sheet music a symphony orchestra uses.”

While Mrs. Robason is a favorable English teacher, she was also known to be athletic in her high school years with track being her favorite sport.

“I ran the 200m, 400m, and 4x400m relay in track,” Robason said.

Her team won multiple track meets. She also competed in an independent track league, winning her gold and silver medals consistently. Furthermore, Robason was the only freshman on the high school’s team.

“The 400m was my race,” she said.

Before coming to MHS, she taught at Frisco Middle School. When asked the difference between middle school and high school students, she highlights maturity levels.

“High schoolers are [a bit] more mature, and I feel like we can have deeper discussions about literature and life in general,” Robason said.

Robason, unlike most, is a morning person. She enjoys books, hence, the English teaching job and spending time with her husband, Zachary Robason, who also works at MHS as one of the band directors.

“I love to read, and my husband and I enjoy scuba diving as well,” Robason said.
