In a recent scrimmage against Little Elm and Sulphur Springs on Jan. 18, the varsity tennis team demonstrated skill and resilience, delivering solid performances across various categories.

The boys doubles team, led by senior Cade Gentry and sophomore Eddie Zeng, secured their position at the top, while junior Taylor Katz and senior Rylee Reddick in girls doubles, along with seniors Ella Hart and Alyvia McClure, showcased impressive performances.

In mixed doubles, senior Nic Buhr and junior Juliet Counce formed a formidable partnership, and junior Alex Waishwell excelled in girls singles.

The varsity team continued their winning streak at the Anna College Showcase Tournament held Jan. 26, with Gentry and Zeng winning the Boys Doubles A Draw Championship. McClure claimed the Girls Singles B Draw Championship, and seniors Ximena Acosta and Logan Ferrel secured the Girls Doubles B Draw Consolation Championship. Rain interrupted the mixed doubles semi-final match, featuring Buhr and Counce against the Van doubles team.

On the JV front, at the Tyler Legacy High Tournament on Jan. 30, the team achieved notable success, earning six medals. Standout performances included sophomore Emma Bistrian’s second place finish in girls singles A draw, and freshmen Amara Thompson and Claire Leavitt’s commendable second place in girls doubles. Freshman Rohith Chadalavada secured a second place finish in boys singles while junior Havisha Chiliveri emerged as the Girls Singles Consolation Champion.
