Melissa Choir had 17 students compete in the regional UIL Vocal and Piano Solo and Ensemble Contest held at Plano East on Feb. 3 and qualified 11 of those students for the UIL Texas State Solo-Ensemble Contest, which will be held in Austin in May. Students were given a complex piece of music in a foreign language that they had to learn and perform solo. These solo performances were judged against students from many other local schools.
