Two Cardinals will compete at the UIL 5A State Track Meet on May 3 at Mike A. Myers Track and Soccer Stadium at the University of Texas in Austin.
Senior Lincoln Dunn, a US Army commit, was named regional champion in the 100m dash at the Region 2 meet held April 22 at the University of Texas in Arlington. He did not beat his best personal time of 10.36 seconds, which was set earlier this season, but he still ran fast enough to win gold and advance to state. Dunn’s new personal record time of 10.36 did earn him an invitation to compete in the Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays last month.
Senior Logan Tauch, a University of North Texas (UNT) commit, was named regional champion in both the 3200m and 1600m runs at the regional meet, qualifying him for state in both events. Tauch set a new 5A regional record and a new personal record (PR) in the 3200m with a time of 9:05:08. He also set a new PR and school record in the 1600m with a time of 4:11:40.
