Cardinal Brief: May 27-31

Cardinal Update

  • YEARBOOKS – LIMITED SALE: Students wanting to purchase a 2023-2024 yearbook have one more opportunity until June 6th! Click HERE to read the letter for more info and find the link to purchase.
  • Congratulations to the Lady Cards for advancing to the STATE softball tournament! They defeated Forney in two games on May 21 and 23 to win the regional finals round. They will play Lake Belton in the 5A State Semifinals on May 31 at 10 a.m. at McCombs Field, University of Texas – Austin. Melissa is the home team. Click HERE to view the UIL state bracket.
  • FINAL EXAMS: Spring semester exams will continue to be given to 9th-11th grade students May 28-30. Each day, students must check in with their 3rd period teacher at 8:15 a.m. for attendance, regardless of exemption status. Click HERE for more information and the exam schedule. Once students are finished with their exams for the day, if they turned in a permission slip, they may sign out at the designated location: 9th grade – MAC, 10th grade – Gym, 11th grade – Library.
  • SENIOR ACTIVITIES: Senior events such as the Senior Walk and Class Picture, Senior Awards Ceremony, Senior Picnic and Graduation Rehearsal, and Graduation will take place the week of May 27-31. It is imperative that each senior attends every event. Click HERE for more information on each mandatory event.
  • BIRDIE MASCOT: MHS Cheer is looking for incoming 9th-12th grade students to be Birdie next school year! If interested, contact head coach Alex Whorton ([email protected]).
  • DIGITAL SAT ESSENTIALS COURSE: MHS has partnered with The Princeton Review to offer a Digital SAT Essentials Course, which runs July 13-Aug. 20 on Tuesdays from 5-8 p.m. Click HERE for more info. 
  • IB INSIGHTS: Melissa High School is currently completing the final steps of accreditation for the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP). Starting in the fall of 2025, we look forward to providing this prestigious and comprehensive educational opportunity to our students. The IB Diploma Programme is a rigorous two-year curriculum that is widely recognized for its high academic standards and its emphasis on developing well-rounded, global citizens. Students enrolled in the IB DP will have the chance to engage in a challenging and enriching education that prepares them for success in higher education and beyond. Miranda Sirota is a senior this year at Melissa High School. This is her third year writing for the Cardinal Connection. Miranda is also involved in other extracurriculars including Band, HOSA, NHS, academic UIL, and Book Club. Outside of school, she enjoys reading, cooking, and binge-watching her favorite TV shows. After graduating, Miranda plans to study Dental Hygiene to become a registered hygienist.
