Cardinal Update
- DRESS UP THEME: The dress up theme for the pep rally and football game on Sept. 13 is CAMO (camouflage).
- PICTURE DAY: All 9th-11th grade students will be photographed for the yearbook on Sept. 17 by the school photographer, CADY. Picture Retake Day is scheduled for Oct. 23.
- STUDENT COUNCIL: Interested in joining Student Council? The first meeting will take place during B lunch on Sept. 18 in room A130. Attendance is required for those who wish to participate in Student Council.
- PSAT/NMSQT: MHS will administer the PSAT/NMSQT on campus on Oct. 9. Seats are limited and will be offered to sophomores and juniors on a first come, first served basis. The cost to take the test is $19. Students will receive an email through their student email address containing a link to the registration form, which opens at 4 p.m. on Sept. 4. Registration will remain open until Sept. 18 at 4 p.m. or until all seats are filled. For more information, please click HERE.
- DUAL CREDIT: Collin College will hold a dual credit parent orientation meeting on Sept. 19 at 6 p.m. via Zoom. The live presentation will also be recorded for those unable to join the meeting and be posted for later viewing. Click here for more info.
- LIBRARY BOOKS: Read Melissa ISD’s notice with detailed information about the parental consent requirements and options regarding your student’s permission to check out books from their school library. No action is required for students in Pre-K or for students in grades K-5. For students in grades 6-12, parental consent is required in order for the student to check out books from the school library that are outside of the standard juvenile collection. Please review the notice for more information and a link to the consent form for your student’s school.
- PARENTAL CONSENT: All Melissa ISD students, in accordance with state legislation, are required to have parental consent on file with the school in order to participate in prevention education (Grades PreK-12) and the Teens Can Survive program (Grades 6-12 only). The linked notices include detailed information about each of these requirements and a link to a parental consent form that must be completed by 5 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 20.
- SENIOR PORTRAITS: CADY Photography will come to campus on Sept. 24 to take senior portraits. Students must still make an appointment through cady.com. Seniors have to be photographed by CADY in order to be included in the yearbook. The yearbook-only photos are free of charge and all apparel is provided for the photoshoot. - DRIVER’S ED: Driver’s Ed sign-up is available in the main office of the new building. The next class begins Sept. 25.
